What is Music? Music simply means an arrangement of sound that is pleasant to our hearing.... Characteristics of Music * PITCH: This is how high or low a musical note sounds * INTENSITY: This is how loud or soft a musical note is. * DURATION: This is how long or short a musical note is. * QUALITY: This refers to the type of instrument being played i.e producing the sound. Types of Music There are many types of music, But still we can consider some of the important ones. Music can be divided into numerous categories based on elements, temperament, tone, etc. Some of the popular types of music are: Jazz, Hip Hop, Rock, Blues, Country, R&B, Folk, Fusion and Classical Music.
